Host Families
Our time in Fairbanks was bittersweet. It was great to be with the host families that have supported our players for so many years. It was bitter...that we didn't win much and that also that could be our last time in Fairbanks. The first family in the pictures became a host family last year. The Merksammers are the ones that took us last year to see the helicopters that he flies. This year he is deployed for 12 months to Iraq. He has already been gone for 5 months. It amazes me the hardship that our military families endure. I grew up in the military but during a time of peace. I think this is his fourth or fifth deployment. Pray for them as they are apart from each other.
The second family, the Kerstetters, have been hosting 9 out of the last 11 years. They love having the boys and look forward to it every summer. They are moving from Alaska back to the lower 48. We will miss them and so appreciate their service to us.
